Peter Carlin on time at Peel Finale

The final weekend’s racing for the summer season was a fairly low key affair with 22 riders ready to test themselves against the clock.

The main event was a 40 kilometre time trial with the riders sent off at one minute intervals with no pacing or close riding allowed.

The course was a new one made possible by the recent construction of a 3 km sealed road replacing loose gravel. The event was a double event with sheer speed giving the win on one side and the comparison to a pre-set age standard on the other.

Ken Portman at seventy six took the age grade race by a massive 18 minute beating of the standard time to win the perpetual trophy.

For the best time award Peter Carlin scampered around the course in an impressive 57:07 time, a minute ahead of Phil Deisel.

In the support event club Vice-President Kelly Gray took the 16km race with a time of 26:10 with Mikala Falconer just 3 seconds behind. Kyle Nankivell took the 10km junior event in 16:37.
