Following several years hiatus, Perth is back on the national cycling hosting calendar with the 2013 Cycling Australia Masters Track National Championships coming to town in April next year. The over 30’s age category represents by far the biggest demographic for Cycling WA, and its chief executive, Garry Chandler, is expecting a large local and interstate contingent participating at the event.
“The masters represent around 40% of our total membership, a number which is reflected nationally, and we’d expect many of them to register for the event, particularly given the relative infrequency of national championships coming to Perth.”
“The dates have been planned to coincide with the Perth stage of the 2013 UCI World Cycling Tour, so we should also see a large interstate and international presence at the championships which will further add to its prestige. Having so many non-WA participants will provide us with a great opportunity to showcase Perth and its surrounds, and we’ll certainly make sure we put on a terrific event.”
The 2013 Cycling Australia Masters Track National Championship will span 4 days, with almost 100 separate events across the 18 age categories included in the program.
The 2013 Cycling Australia Masters Track National Championships will be held at the VenuesWest SpeedDome in Midvale, April 9-12, 2013.
The Perth stage of the UCI World Cycling Tour will take place on April 12 (Time Trial) and 14 (Road Race) 2013.
