Sam Willoughby, Caroline Buchanan, Darryn Goodwin and Melinda Mcleod have been awarded Cyclists of the Year Awards in the BMX category at last weeks awards dinner at the Ivy Room, Sydney.
Both Willoughby and Buchanan were recognised in the Singapore Airlines Elite category while Melinda and Darryn were recognised in the junior category. In fact Melinda was nominated in both categories having won the Junior World Championships (Time Trial & Race) before moving up to the senior ranks after the event to compete at the London Test event with the goal of qualifying for the Olympics.
In accepting the Elite award Caroline said the year had been a "roller coaster year".
"There have been a lot of highs and a lot of lows and a lot of injuries," Buchanan said.
"(I'm) really looking forward to next year, o fcourse I want to win the gold medal in London.
"(We've ) got a little while to London, I think its about 38 weeks so I'm counting down to be there."
Another award presented on the night went to Beverely Wensley who was awarded the Australian Sports Commission Volunteer of the Year.
