Dane Searls Loses Battle

Australian Freestyle BMX champion, Dane Searls has passed away at the Gold Coast Hospital, days after attempting to jump into a swimming pool from a first floor balcony at Billys Beach House Resort.

Searls emerged on the world BMX stage after being filmed for the Giants of Dirt videos last year, riding a course that featured some of the biggest dirt jumps in the world.

His death has shocked the BMX community, and there was a large expression of grief displayed on the Social Network.

BMX Australia expressed its condolences to the family and friends.

"Our thoughts are with Searls family in this difficult time, he will long be remembered as an extraordinary talent in the sport of BMX" commented Andrew Farrell.
