Drapac's Will Walker pushes for pulse test to beat epidemic of racing hearts

Hello,

I thought you may be interested in the Paceline charity ride which Will Walker will be taking part in this month. Now enjoying a professional comeback following a five-year hiatus, Mr Walker credits his involvement as a Paceline ambassador for getting him back on a bike and ready to resurrect his career.

The Paceline riders will urge Australians of all ages to have a pulse test in a bid to help curb the skyrocketing number of Australians being hospitalised by what medical experts are calling an “epidemic” of irregular heartbeats.

The call comes from a group of 34 cycling enthusiasts who will be riding from Coolangatta to Sydney to raise funds for much-needed medical research into the causes and treatments of cardiac arrhythmia (an irregular heartbeat) and raise community awareness of the risks posed by the condition.

The week-long Paceline ride, beginning on Saturday, 10 November, will cover a distance of 1,100km – the equivalent of 10 metres for each of the estimated 110,000 Australians living with an undiagnosed heart arrhythmia, a condition where the heart beats too quickly, too slowly or erratically.

For more information or to speak to Will Walker, please call Rebecca Anable on (02) 8904 7315.

Cheers,
Rebecca
