Active ImageThe long awaited Tugun Bi-Pass is to open for traffic on the 2nd of June 2008. On the 1st of June (Sunday), the Daniel Bennett Development Fund, with the blessing of the Goldstars and the permission of Pacific Link Alliance who built the road, will be running Sunday Cat 3 Open racing on the road before it is open to traffic.

The start/finish will be on the Southern end of the new road in NSW and go under the tunnel beneath the airport with the turn-around at the new improved border marker near John Flynn hospital.

Unlike the 5th Sunday, Daniel Bennett race, prize money will be on offer.

Due to time constraints, racing will start at 7:00am sharp. Juniors will start at 6:45. Registrations from 6:45. No late starters. Line Entries. Entry fee $20.00 for all entrants in all grades. Entrants in Junior race $10.00.

A percentage of entry fees will be donated to the official Pacific Link Alliance charity, Camp Quality, a non profit organisation that is committed to bringing hope and happiness to every child living with cancer, their families and communities through ongoing quality recreational, educational, hospital and financial support programs.

Access to the course and parking is available at the end of Rose St, Tweed Heads West in Parkes Drive West.

Take the Gold Coast Hwy past the Airport as it veers right past the Southern end of the Airport. Take the Kennedy Drive exit ,turn right into Kennedy Drive and take the first turn right under the Expressway, Rose St. Go to the end of Rose St and on to a dirt road which eventually turns left into another dirt road, Parkes Drive.

This ends up in a parking compound where you can park. Access to the course will be signposted from there.

There was some early discussion that the road would be open to bicycles after the race, but this has been changed to pedestrian traffic only for the balance of the Open Day.

The following day, it will be open for motorised traffic with bicycle access denied.
