Active ImageRiders contemplating signing up for the Tour of the Scenic Rim on the 16th-17th August will have an extra challenge on their hands.

The highly credentialed Triple Play Bike King racing team intends to take on the inaugural Queensland event, and if their previous form is anything to go by, the opposition will certainly have its work cut out.

Triple Play has been together since 2006, back in the days when ex-Tenix Pro, David Betts, was one of the original riders.

The team had a lot of success in this time with multiple Queensland State Title holders among its ranks, and a long list of multiple National Road Series (NRS) and major race wins to its credit.

Significant winners have been David Betts (2006 Top End Tour), Hayden Josefski (2007 Tour of Canberra) and Cameron Hughes (2007 Grafton to Inverell).

However, Grany Irwin, Hayden Josefski, Darcy Roselund and Jeremy Betts have also secured National Road Series stages.

Currently, the Triple Play Bike King stars include Michael England – the 2008 Tour of Sunshine Coast winner, Malcolm Rudolph (2008 Jon Brooks Memorial), Chris Pryor( 2008 Gunnedah to Tamworth), and Cameron Hughes ( 2008 Mooloolaba Criterium) , but Triple Play “el supremo”, Jeremy Betts, is not letting the cat out of the bag as to who he intends to send to the Scenic Rim event.

“We’ll be definitely fielding a team” he told CSN, “ but we also have riders going down for the Australian Grand Prix Series in Ballarat”.

“ We expect to do well in every race” he added,  “but I can't say who ( wil be out main stays) at this stage because we have a great team ethic and we always work for the rider with the best form at that time”.

Taking on an event like the Tout of the Scenic Rim is extremely important for Jeremy Betts and the Triple Play crew.

“The Tour of the Scenic Rim and other local races form the back bone of Queensland racing which helps teams like ourselves in many ways.  Firstly these tours provide some great courses and racing which helps us build our form before competing in the NRS races, and they also provide (quality) racing for the up and coming riders to help them develop into riders with a chance of joining our Team and others like us”

“The Tour of the Scenic Rim has a wonferful chance of being successful over the next few years. The courses look great and there is a lot of enthusiasm behind the organizers.”
