On Sunday the Queensland Junior Track Cycling Team was announced following the completion of 3 days of impressive cycling action.

Eighty athletes competed for a spot in the Queensland team with cyclists being selected to compete at the national titles in Sydney from 27-29 March.

Jesse Kerrison, under 15 Men of Goldcoast Goldstars Cycling Club, was the outstanding star of the meet breaking 3 state records, one of which was held for 10years by ex Junior World Champion Wade Cosgrove.

Jesse won gold in the 500m Time Trial, Scratch and Sprint. Jesse’s closet rival was Jacob Restall who defeated Kerrison in the Individual Pursuit to take the gold. In the under 17 Women Rockhampton Cycling Club dominated with Rebecca Stevenson winning 2 gold and Kelly Smith taking out the 500m Time Trial.

Brodie Stewart from Balmoral was too strong for the Rocky girls taking the gold in the Individual Pursuit.

It was a close field with the under 17 Men however, Jordan Kerby from Maryborough was too strong taking out the 500m Time Trial, Individual Pursuit and Scratch with Zac Deller from Rockhampton winning gold in the Sprint.

In the under 15 Women Emily Roper established herself as an athlete to watch in the future riding a new state record in the Individual Pursuit and winning the Scratch and Sprint.

Taylah Jennings of Rockhampton Cycling was too strong for Emily in the 500m Time Trial however. Looking at the future of Cycling Matthew Ross from Townsville Cycling conquered the under 13 boys field winning all events in his field. Amy Cundy and Georgina Kanowski both won gold in the under 13 girl events. While Junior under 11 saw Luke Marnane win one and Daniel Rae win two gold in the Scratch, 500m Time Trial and Flying 200m respectively.
